The thoughts of my position in relation to Adrienne Rich’s book and the images I have chosen are based on the feelings and thoughts I get and have once seeing these images. These images transcript into the pride, power, strength and consciousness I as a ‘black’ woman feel in society. They are either made by or perceived as images that had or have impacted me as a person and the way my mind is set up.

The location for viewers would be seen as being black, which is what and who I am. I wear my skin and heritage with pride, but there is so much more to me than the colour of my skin. So much more through my thoughts, behaviour, intelligence and knowledge. My skin is not a location that should be denied or unacknowledged, but shouldn’t be used as a way or interpretation of perceiving me and treating me as something I’m not. Not only my skin but being a woman as my second location raises awareness in the way we as women move within society. The actions we take and struggles we take to take and stand in the positions we have. This is not written to be a feminist speech or quoted as, but more to raise a better understanding for myself to see and acknowledged that there are so many levels to the position we as women have. Taking pride in how far we have gotten, the changes we are about to make and the hopeful future we are about to have.
